Sensi Seeds is the largest seed bank in the world, it all started way back in the seventies, when its founder, Ben, was travelling far and wide, to purchase textiles to manufacture clothes for his store in Rotterdam, it was while he was travelling in Turkey, Afghanistan and Pakistan, that he discovered Hemp and its versatility, his findings revealed that hemp had a number of beneficial uses, he decided to cultivate these plants to gain more of an insight, he realised that the laws did not prohibit Cannabis seeds, or the sale of them, only the plant, so reading between the lines he presumed that the production process was also permitted, with a lawyer's assistance he had this confirmed and Sensi Connoisseurs club was born in 1985.
Ben had the privilege to be one of three Dutch cultivators given access to new, stable, hybrid strains, which were moving into Europe from the USA, these were the well-known Skunk and Haze varieties, which are hugely popular and much loved today; this created an evolution of European strains within the world market. Ben expanded his business in 1991, by purchasing a rival company called Seed Bank, which is when Sensi Seed Bank materialised, becoming the World's largest Seed Bank that we are now familiar with, with over 500 varieties of seeds available.
Sensi Seeds has become greatly respected during its many years at the forefront of the industry; they were approached by the Dutch Government, to assist in the development of medicinal Cannabis supplied by pharmacies. Sensi Seeds thrives to normalise the use of Cannabis for industrial and Medicinal purposes, which prompted them to open the world's first Cannabis museum in 1985, The Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum, you can now find museums in Amsterdam and Barcelona, where they regularly host Cannabis Culture Award ceremonies.
