Read more Read less

Autoflowering seeds have been around for a decade or two. Even though not many growers acknowledge the big advantages of autoflowering seeds, these types of seeds still make up a huge part of the worldwide cannabis scene. In the past, the first few autoflowering strains produced really low yields and were often of low quality. However, nowadays there are a lot strains that have yields higher than 200 grams with a quality that rivals even the better known “regular” strains. The legalization of cannabis in the states of Colorado and Washington have made the autoflowering strains increasingly popular and has encouraged many companies and private growers to start breeding excellent new strains with unique genetics. The assortment of The Cannabis Seedbank consists of the best autoflowering strains from growers all around the world and is being expanded regularly, so stay tuned and check in weekly for new strains!

What are autoflowering cannabis seeds?

Autoflowering seeds have their own special place within the cannabis industry. After germination, the seeds grow in two to five weeks and automatically start flowering on their own. Because of many advantages that come from using autoflowering seeds, these seeds are quickly increasing in popularity within the cannabis industry. This mainly due to the many advantage that come from using autoflowering seeds, especially in colder climates. Because these plants produce buds with so little as 12 hours of light a day, the more light you give, the bigger and denser the buds become. In addition, these plants can flower during the summer, so they don’t have to deal with cold or humid nights, which prevent mould and diseases. Lastly, these amazing seeds can be harvested two to three times a year!

What makes autoflowering cannabis strains start flowering after an x amount of weeks?

This differs per strain because it’s pre-determined on a genetic level. Beside the well-known indica and sativa varieties, there are also other ones like ruderalis. The ruderalis variety originates from Russia and several countries in Eastern Europe. The marijuana that is harvested from the ruderalis in its most pure form does not taste very well, and the THC levels are no higher than a few percent. In addition to that, the yield is really low. This might sound rather negative, but this strain does have a few valuable attributes going for it. For example, the ruderalis starts to flower automatically after two to five weeks, regardless of how much light it receives. This alone makes it a really appealing strain.

The autoflowering strains that you can find in our web-shop are a mix of potent regular indica or sativa strains that are combined with an autoflowering ruderalis. Our breeders have been selecting these seeds for many years now, so the quality has increased immensely!

Why use autoflowering cannabis seeds?

These strains are mainly for people with a restricted amount of space. They are usually smaller than other strains while still being able to produce a high quality yield.
